Our unique development guarantees that we have the very best staff and at every level of operation. Our leadership team reflects a group of diverse individuals with breadth and depth of experience across the company.

Chris Austin

Director

Chris (aka Big Chris, The Boss) started S2 Electrical Ltd in 2009 at the age of 26 having gained his Electrical Installation qualification from Colchester Institute in 2006.

Chris started his electrical career building and installing control panels for a variety of companies from pubs, dance studios and even yachts! He later moved into the domestic and social housing sector. 

Chris gained a lot of knowledge and experience during this period and travelled extensively around Cambridgeshire and Essex before finally setting up S2 Electrical Ltd. Chris’s objectives remain now, as they were then, to provide an honest, reliable and professional service across all sectors of the industry and to build a large repeat business clientele. 

Chris enjoys educating the engineers and apprentices with new skills but also gaining knowledge from them too. Outside of work Chris enjoys playing badminton, pottering in the garden and running (mostly after his 2 children!).

Alan Fox

Contract Manager

Alan has been an Electrician for 25 years now and started his career at 16 working as an apprentice with his dad. 

On qualifying he left and gain further experience within the industry learning different styles of work. Alan became an electrical supervisor at 26 and after gaining his JIB gold card decided to enter the self employed world where he remained for several years. 

 Alan later returned to employed work with among a few companies, the MOD, working in specialist areas and gaining his complex qualification. Alan has now come to settle within the S2 family and will use the knowledge he has gained over the years in his new Contract Managers role. Alan enjoys the variety of works at S2 and the friendly family atmosphere that it carries.

Dan Walmsley

Apprentice Electrician

Dan is currently studying Electrical Installation at college in his 2nd year and has been with S2 since the beginning of 2020 but is really enjoying it. The onsite works with the other members of the team has greatly improved his knowledge already. 

Dan previously worked for a few sub contractors and carried out works in the London area but later worked within the retail industry. Dan will be starting an apprenticeship with S2 whilst working towards his level 3 qualification and would then like to continue to study for his NVQ.  

Chris Walls

Electrician

Chris (aka Little Chris) joined S2 as a 2nd year apprentice in 2016 after bombarding Chris (aka Big Chris, The Boss) with emails! Chris went on to complete his Electrical Installation qualification to become a fully qualified electrician and has now been part of the S2 team for 4 years. Chris enjoys the variety of work S2 has to offer although dislikes being put on outside works in the rain. 

When not working at S2 Chris enjoys the gym when he gets the chance to go as he’s otherwise working on his wife’s never ending ‘to do’ list!

Matt Nolan

Electrician

Matt started working in the Electrical industry for a small company at the age of 15 for pocket money and soon found he had a very keen interest in the works and enrolled at the local college to study whilst completing his apprenticeship. 

Following a move from North Wales to Cambridge he continued his career and worked his way up to become a supervisor for a larger company. After being approached by Chris to undertake S2s Cambridge works and hearing more about the company, Matt decided he missed the friendly atmosphere of a smaller firm and decided to join the team. 

Matt has now been with S2 since 2018 and finds himself working on anything from maintenance, fault finding to providing information for quoted works. Matt makes regular visits to the Essex office and enjoys working closely with the S2 team ‘it's a great friendly and supportive company with that family feel to it.’.

Shannon Hardy

Administrator

Shannon previously worked as a customer service advisor for a cruise company based in Colchester but in 2019 she joined the S2 team as an Administrator. 

Shannon is looking forward to growing with S2 in the upcoming years and she’s glad to be part of the S2 family. Outside of work Shannon enjoys spending time with family, friends and travelling to new destinations.

Olly Lewis-Brooks

Apprentice Electrician

Olly is currently studying Electrical Installation at college and has been with S2 since the middle of 2020.

Samantha Day

Accounts Manager

Sam started her working life within the insurance industry at the age of 16 working as an Assistant Secretary. She later moved to a London based law firm working within the IT department as a PA. 

Sam is the long suffering partner of Chris (aka Big Chris, The Boss) and after their little girl came along and with the growth of S2 they decided to try working together. Sam joined S2 in 2016 working as an Administrator looking after the scheduling of works. Following a brief outage after their son came along, Sam rejoined the team as Accounts Manager. Out of the office Sam is mainly running around after her children but if she does get a spare 5 minutes she likes catching up with friends and reading.

Kirstie Williams

Administrator

Kirstie started her working life in Floristry after leaving school but found it was too cold so quickly moved into working for construction/plumbing companies working in the office. Kirstie joined the S2 family in August 2020 as an Administrator and is responsible for contacting customers and booking in the works for the engineers. She has enjoyed her time with the company so far and is looking forward to growing with the company
 
When Kirstie was allowed out of the house she enjoyed going to the gym, travelling, seeing friends/family and baking. 

Mason Elliot

Apprentice Electrician

Mason joined the S2 family in 2017 as a first year apprentice studying at Colchester Institute 2 evenings a week. 

Mason previously had no electrical experience and through his course and onsite learning with the qualified engineers he has gained a wealth of knowledge and enjoys the variety of work the company undertakes. In his free time, Mason spends time playing computer games, reading and spending time with his girlfriend.
